We are a community of believers who come together to experience God in a joyful way, whether we're at a service, a special event, or simply spending time with our small group. We teach biblical truth so that you can understand it, relate to it, and apply it today! Along the way, we sing, and laugh. We teach and pray. We roll up our sleeves and get involved. And sometimes, we just sit quietly in the presence of God.
Wally was born and raised in southern Saskatchewan. He received theological training at Winnipeg Bible College (Providence College) and at Northwest Baptist Theological College and Seminary in Vancouver, BC. Wally met Anita in his final year of Bible College and they were married and now have two adult children.
Wally and Anita have been involved in pastoral ministry for over 40 years in Thunder Bay, On., Winnipeg, Man. Newmarket, Guelph and. most recently, in Kingston, Ontario. Wally was Senior Pastor at Bay Park from 1997 to April 2012.
Bay Park looks forward to Paul Gazdik joining our staff as Senior Pastor in September 2012.
Byron Wheaton Pastor of Discipleship
Byron has been a part of the Bay Park pastoral staff as Pastor of Discipleship since April 2006. Prior to coming to Kingston, he taught Old Testament and Biblical Studies at Bethel Seminary of the East (Philadelphia/New York), Singapore Bible College (Singapore), Heritage Seminary (Cambridge) Emmanuel Bible College (Kitchener), Tyndale Seminary and Toronto Baptist Seminary (Toronto). He began his ministry as part of the pastoral staff of Hespeler Baptist Church in Cambridge.
Byron's passion is to teach the scriptures. Whether facilitating a small group, teaching in a classroom setting, or preaching at a Sunday service, he delights in seeing people get excited about new understanding and experience of God's truth. Byron holds the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Hermeneutics (Old Testament concentration) from Westminister Theological Seminary in Philadelphia PA.
In addition to ministry, Byron enjoys biking, renovating old houses, and occasionally golfing. He is the husband of Jackie and father of four university/college students (Laura, Benjamin, Esther, & Mark) at various stages of their educational journeys.
Randy Hawley Director of Youth & Family Ministries
Randy is the homegrown boy at Bay Park. He was born in Kingston and raised in the small village of Sydenham, just north of Kingston. He attended Sheridan College in Oakville where he obtained a diploma in Athletic Training & Management.
Randy has been working alongside students since 1985, when he volunteered as a youth leader at a church he and his wife Kathy and their young son Joshua were attending in NewMarket, ON. During this point in time Randy and his family moved back to Kingston where he worked with students at Bay Park on a volunteer basis. It was during this time also that Randy and Kathy had their second child, a beautiful daughter named Sarah.
Over the next nine years, Randy continued to volunteer at Bay Park as a youth leader, working alongside two different Youth Pastors and in the fall of 1996 came on staff as the Director of Youth & Family Ministries. Randy also went back to school and graduated from Tyndale University College with a Bachelor of Religious Education Degree.
Randy enjoys hanging out with teenagers, teaching them the Truths of God’s Word and seeing the transformation that takes place in a teen’s life when they discover a faith that is real; when they truly believe that God loves and cares for them and that they matter to Him.
Randy also enjoys short walks from the house to the car and playing golf when the opportunity arises!
Randy and Kathy have served together at Bay Park since 1987 and have two children, both married.
